Happy 2019! I started the year off determined to document more. Let's face it, my memory is becoming more mature. The details of "what I did" or "how I did it" do not really come back to me as easily anymore. I write notes in various books and notepads and then typically lose the notes. I will attempt this again, for my own benefit but if someone else happens upon it, then good for you too.
I started to organize my stash the other day. Stashes of commercial yarn, handspun yarn, felting fibre, spinning fibre, rug hooking supplies and weaving cones. Um, yeah...I am kind of surrounded in wool and the tools of the crafts.
Well, i didn't get too far except to rediscover some things I forgot I had. I decided to grab a few and make something. what would that something be?
I decided on a Tunisian crochet cowl. Works fast and thick, warm and cozy. Well, like anything, it is what it is when you make it!
There is no pattern, just loose instructions.
I chained 140, did a row of regular crochet, joined in the round and then began the Tunisian knit stitch, using a worsted wool blend for the forward pass and the other end of the double hook brought up the rear return in a fluffy nylon, Caribou yarn. I had two colours of the Caribou that I could not think of anything else to do with, so I used them both up. Once I finished with the tks rows, I finished with another row of regular crochet. I then dug out some angora-like yarn (missing label but oh-so-soft and lovely) and crochet the edges to ease out the curling that Tunisian Crochet can sometimes give you. I have a trick to stop the curling as you build the piece but I forgot about it, since I have not made anything like this for a while. oops. Now i remember!
